First Aussie Sorghum-to-Ethanol Plant Opens

December 12th, 2008

Dalby Bio-Refinery Limited has opened Australia’s first purpose-built sorghum to ethanol plant

The plant, on the Darling Downs in southern Queensland, will produce 70 million litres of ethanol a year.

Director Chris Harrison says that the refinery, which cost $85 million to  build, will reach full production next month.

"A small portion of ours will go into the industrial market and the majority of it will go into the petrol market." he said.
