Dubbo City Council in the central west of New South Wales, has signed a 30-year lease for 25 hectares of Council-owned land to be developed for solar power generation.

The developer, Soleir Ltd, plans to install 2 megawatts of solar generation capacity on the land and offer it in parcels to investors.

Bretton Cooper, a director of Soleir, said that  the company had received development approval for a 2 megawatt solar generating plant and was aiming to proceed with the project within nine to twelve months.

He said that the land, located on Boothenba Road north-east of Dubbo, is an attractive location for this kind of project because it is in a very good solar range and is in close proximity to an electrical substation.
