A unique ocean-cleaning technology, called “Seabin”, has raised more than $300,000 in two months during a crowdfunding campaign.

West Australian surfers, Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski, quit their jobs to come up with a sustainable solution to removing plastics and other pollution from the ocean.

With the help of investors, Shark Mitigation Systems, they designed an automated rubbish bin with an electric pump. A prototype of the bin is being tested in Perth before taking it to market in Mallorca in Spain, a marina centre in Europe.
