Bell Bay Pulp Mill

Gunns Ltd has plans to build a plantation-based bleached kraft pulp mill to be located in the Bell Bay Industrial Zone in northern Tasmania, adjacent to the Company’s existing wood fibre operations. The pulp mill will include a power plant using woodwaste to generate 180 MW. It is planned that more than 100 MW will be supplied to the grid.

Gunns bankers ANZ bank would not finance the mill and Gunns attempted to bring in partners without success. Permits to build the mill lapsed in August 2017.
