Castle Hill Wind Farm

Genesis Energy has submitted resource consent applications to establish and operate the Castle Hill Wind Farm on rural land 20 kilometres north-east of Masterton. The wind farm will have up to 286 wind turbines with a potential total capacity of up to 860 MW. At that size, it would be the largest single wind farm in New Zealand.

Genesis Energy has designed the Castle Hill Wind Farm with turbines in 'clusters' on several hills. The company expects that the wind farm would be built in stages over several years.

Workk on the wind farm commenced in March 2018.
