East Rockingham Waste-to-Energy Plant

New Energy Corporation planning to build and operate a waste-to-energy facility at East Rockingham, south of Perth. The facility will accept up to 225,000 tonnes of waste each year and will produce up to18.5MW of electricity, of which 2.5MW would be used to power the plant and 16MW would feed into the South West Interconnected System.

The facility will consist of four operational gasification chambers plus one set aside for maintenance.

The plant was originally expected to begin operation in September 2015.

In September 2017, it was announced that Hitachi Zosen Inova had been chosen as the preferred tenderer for the project.
