Geelong Geothermal Power Project

Greenearth Energy has Victorian Government funding to assist with the demonstration phase of its Geothermal Power Project at Gherang near Geelong.

Greenearth Energy expects that the demonstarion phase of its hot rock geothermal project will result in a power plant with the capacity to produce 12 MW of electricity. The subsequent commercialisation is expected to increase the capacity of the plant to 140 MW.

In August 2013, Greenearth Energy stated that the future of the Geelong geothermal project is in doubt after it was denied funding by the Federal Government’s Australian Renewable Energy Agency.
