Greenough River Solar Farm

West Australian government-owned Synergy, in a joint venture partnership with GE Energy Financial Services, operates a 10 MW solar farm, called Greenough River Solar Farm, near Ellendale, south of Geraldton.

First Solar supplied the project with over 150,000 thin film photovoltaic modules. It provided engineering, procurement and construction services, in addition to operations and maintenance support when the solar farm is operational.

The WA Water Corporation, which is building the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant, has committed to purchase 100 percent of the solar farm's output.

Greenough River Solar Farm is the first stage of a 40MW solar farm that the joint venture hopes to install at this site.

In April 2018, RCR Tomlinson announced that it had been awarded the contract to develop Stage 2 of the solar farm.
