Hornsdale Wind Farm

It is proposed that the Hornsdale Wind Farm will consist of approximately 100 wind turbines on a site located between 8 and 24km north of Jamestown in the locality of Hornsdale in South Australia, .

It is planned to produce up to 315 megawatts with completion by 2015.

The project was commenced by Investec Bank (Australia) Ltd but purchased in June 2014 by France’s Neoen and Megawatt Capital.

The first stage of the project, consisting of 32 turbines with a capacity of 100 MW, commenced operation in July 2016. Financing for the second 100MW stage was secured in June 2016.

The project is expected to be complete by November 2017.

In July 2017, it was announced that Hornsedale would be the site for a 100MW/129MWh Tesla Powerpack battery installation. At the time, by far the lithium-ion largest in the world. The battery is expected to be operational by November 2017.
