Numurkah Solar Farm

The French renewable energy developer, Neoen, is planning to develop a solar farm at Numurkah near Shepparton in northern Victoria. The solar is planned to be 38 MW but this could be increased to 126 MW,

Neoen has won a contract for the supply of 38 MW of energy for the Melbourne tram network but has a site with the capacity for a 126 MW solar farm. The extent of the solar farm which will be developed is to be decided before financial close of the project.

The Numurkah Solar Farm site comprises approximately 500 hectares of private freehold land and will consist of approximately 300,000 solar panels. 

Construction is expected to start early in 2018.

In May 2018 a 15-year agreement was signed for the solar farm to supply power to the Laverton Steel Works.
