Tailem Bend Solar Farm

Snowy Hydro is planning to construct a 100 MW solar farm at Tailem Bend on the Murray River in South Australia.

One of Asia's biggest private renewables investors, Singapore-based Equis Funds, will oin Snowy Hydro in the project.

The solar farm will comprise almost 400,000 solar panels and cover 200 hectares. It will be "battery ready" with the potential to add up to 100 MW of battery storage within four years.

The project will also include a 28 MW diesel fuelled generator being relocated from the Hunter Valley, to provide backup power during periods of peak demand.

Development of the solar farm is expected to be completed in 2018.
