Australia's Dyesol Limited has acquired an equity stake in Printed Power Pte Ltd, a spinoff company of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Printed Power is focussing on integrating dye solar cell technology with printed storage and power management systems to create fully integrated combined energy generation and storage devices.
Printed Power was founded in 2008 to exploit the proprietary intellectual property on printed supercapacitors and batteries developed at Nanyang Technological University. Its aim is to be at the forefront of fully printed and self-sustaining combined energy generation and storage solutions globally.
Dyesol recently announced it had achieved a solid-state dye solar cell efficiency of 11.3% in full sun. While this is still far behind the average silicon solar cell, it represents a huge leap for dye solar technology which was able to achieve just 5%.efficiency in 2010.
